There are a few other web bulletin boards out there, and a couple of them have perked up lately after going through some difficult times. IceBoard is not afraid of a little competition (perhaps we are the competition?), so if you don’t find what you’re looking for here maybe one of these would do:
Cool Antarctica, primarily inhabited by FIDs (UK Ice folks). Their board has been recently remodeled after spamming forced it to shut down quite some time ago. Their new board uses clean, spam-free php software, like IceBoard.org’s (good on ya’ Paul!): http://www.coolantarctica.com/phpbb2/index.php
70south, more of a commercial site. User postings seemed to have died off back in March of 05 but have since picked up again (Brendon, what happened?). Many users don’t appear to have been to Antarctica but are seeking info of one sort or another. 70south gets lots of hits, and the board is heavily moderated; unfortunately the format makes it difficult to follow any particular conversational thread: http://www.70south.com/messages/
Antarctic Memories. A home-brewed web page in the MSN communitites that has grown to be a monster. Mike’s board is populated by lots of USAP participants and applicants, many of them following a link from the RPSC employment web page. Lots of friendly where-are-you-now? type conversations, and encouragement for employment seekers: http://groups.msn.com/antarcticmemories/leaveamessage.msnw
