Medivacs are a weekly occurance here. If you get sick they send you to christchurch. Most come back a few days later. I don’t have a clue how a pneumonia could make the AP. These things happen regularly. Must have been a slow day. Nobody has talked about running into Hillary.
Routinely folks get the terms confused when talking about medivacs in the USAP. When the situation is serious and the medical staff recomends the indivuidual be transported ASAP an aircraft is made available and the patient is moved north as soon as possible….that is a Medivac. When medical recommends a patient needs to be transported north for treatment the patient has proirity for the next scheduled north bound flight….that’s Medical Transport. It is very common the two terms get confused. As Mike said, individuals are transported north for additional treatment routinely during the austral summer. It’s like being referred to a specialist by your family doctor, only the specialist is 800 miles north.
Clinton’s visit was covered in the local news…..the USAP news. Go to USAP.gov to see the coverage. Her husband visited the same facilities in 1999.
I think I posted that evac story awhile ago and it was at the close of Winter Season, maybe not even yet into winfly which is perhaps why it made the news.
As to Ms. Clinton, just saw that she had visited the Christ Church USAP facilities and wondered if anyone here had witnessed her PR talk and there was anything other than the standard fluff, or if she had indicated personal interest that she hoped to help sponsor interest and funding in the program. etc…
