Byrd’s Antarctic Snow Cruiser and other vehicles

A hail to fiction so bad its good, but Clive Cussler fans may pick up on the reference.
Anyway I’ve been looking into the history of vehicles used on the ice from Shackletons’s New Arrol Johnston to the current Ivan the TerraBus.
Even the aircraft such as Douglas Mawson’s that never flew or the helicopters from Operation Highjump.
So if anyone has some interesting tidbits please post them here.
