Greetings from Oklahoma. I am going through all the meds now to go to the Pole. I will be the electrical foreman on the elevated station. I understand there will be a layover in Mac before continuing to Scott. Is access to the ob-tube available to us lowley construction hands, or is that privilage just for the egg heads?
The ob tube has been placed in the ice near mcmurdo the last few years during the early part of the summer season. It has been put in during the winfly period in September and removed in early October when the scientists arrive. Generally it is brought out to one of the field camps on the ice shelf that is inaccessable to us. There is no promise from anyone that it will be installed for the general population, it’s just been a tradition. If you are arriving the first week or so in October you may have a chance to use it. If you are arriving towards the end of October it would almost certainly have been moved. Hope you survive the medical PQ process. I should be leaving toward the end of the first week in October. If you are in town stop by the carp shop and say hi.
Hi. Ive spoke to a project cord. this week that want me to send an applacation in, he read my resume and seems very interested in hiring me, my ? is , he said I will be taking my phy. thru my own doctor, how hars are these phy. to pass?
Passing the physical (PQ} isn’t all that hard. but they do check everything. Liver enzymes, good and bad cholesteral etc. I’ve initially flunked twice once for low calcium and once for high creatinine. Both were fine when I went back for a retest so no problem. I always make sure I eat really well the couple of months before the test and I try to get enough excercise.
hope this helps
